THE
LANGUAGE OF
DRAWING
From an Artist's Viewpoint |

My first book on drawing is now completed and available
for purchase at www.brightlightpublishing.com.
I decided to self-publish so that I could have complete
control over the content and design of the book to make
it reflect more faithfully, my teachings. I am excited
to bring my ideas and guidance to you, and look forward
to the culmination of this experience.

| BOOK
DESCRIPTION |
| |
DRAWING IS
LOGICAL AND
LEARNABLE. AT
ITS BEST,
IT IS PLAYFUL
AND SATISFYING.
IT IS ALSO
A VERY SPECIFIC
LANGUAGE |
| |
| First, I would like to describe what this
book is not. It is not an anatomy book, nor will it provide
formulas for drawing. Proportion charts for the human
body are conspicuously absent. Instead, this book deals
with a neglected area of drawing: what all good draftsmen
for centuries have known. However acquired, they shared
common knowledge that deemed them draftsmen. |
| |
| The language of drawing is very different
from that of painting. Most problems students encounter
involve a confusion of the two languages. Because they
do not understand painting and drawing as distinct disciplines,
they inadvertently use the wrong solutions in the wrong
medium. This book clarifies appropriate solutions for
each language for the inexperienced and the seasoned professional. |
| |
| If you have ever wondered how Michelangelo,
Van Dyck, Rembrandt and Pontormo produced lively yet solid
drawings, this book will playfully guide you through one
artists experiences while learning the basic knowledge
shared by all good draftsmen. For those who are moved
by beautiful drawing, this book will offer insights into
the intelligence behind it. |
