ABOUT VIDEOS |

| My intent with these two videos was to illuminate
the differences between the languages of drawing
and painting, which is why I consciously decided
to do the same pose for both demonstrations. In
this way, I talk about what I wanted in the pose
for the drawing and the changes that needed to occur
in the set-up in order to do the painting demonstration.
Sometimes poses are good for drawing, but do not
work for a painting. One section moves from quick
gestures captured live to the often difficult yet
gentle coaxing of the model into a pose that inspired
me to work. I then do a more finished drawing of
the model while explainng the thinking involved. |

| For an artist, visual concepts determine every
choice made in painting. In the painting video,
the demonstration starts from the very abstract
visual idea of the movement of light to a relatively
finished painting of the nude. The understanding
of this concept is of paramount importance to conveying
visual beauty and is explained as the painting develops.
Both videos are produced with high standards, logically
showing the materials used, as well as following
the mixing of paint on the palette, close-ups of
brushstrokes, and in the drawing, great detail of
line quality. |
